The Lac du Flambeau Tribe is ready to break through the Minocqua Chain of Lakes in Wisconsin

For the second year in a row, the Lac du Flambeau Tribe (LdF) has informed the Wisconsin DNR that its members intend to harvest walleye from the Minocqua Chain of Lakes in Oneida County during the 2024 spearing season.
For almost a decade, the primary fishery was catch-and-release only for zander as a recovery project was underway to study natural recruitment. This was also to allow time for the total adult population to escalate to more than three walleye per acre in the chain that includes Minocqua, Lake Tomahawk, Little Lake Tomahawk, Mid and Kawaguesaga.
