The Milwaukee Brewers are seen as a good fit for the six-time All-Star, with whom their own William Contreras may have bad blood

It’s been seven months since William Contreras spoke out against J.D. Martinez, but their animated will continue to be compelling if they join the Milwaukee Brewers.

Contreras is one of the Brewers’ key players this season, and Martinez is a free agent who some analysts consider an ideal addition to a rising Milwaukee team.

The 37-year-old hitter, who has been a six-time All-Star, is seen as the successor to Willy Adames, who signed with a seven-year contract worth $182 million with the San Francisco Giants this month.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Patrick McAvoy, Martinez will be a good signature both from the point of view of economics and needs.

The most noteworthy player is six-time All-Star JD Martinez. He’s 37, so he won’t cost much at this point in his career, but he’s still a capable hitter. He had 16 home runs and 69 RBI in 2024 with the New York Mets. Last season, he was an All-Star member of the Los Angeles Dodgers, hitting 33 home runs and 103 runs.

Martinez is expected to sign a one-year, $9.5 million contract from Spotrac this offseason. If the Brewers want to add a boost to their designated hitter, Martinez should be the guy. He’s there now and available in free agency.

What is the conflict between William Contreras and JD Martinez?

This is not an issue Williams is directly associated with. His brother Willison is involved.

Martinez, who was still playing for the New York Mets before deciding to become a free agent, was accused of punching the elder Contreras, who was playing for St. Louis Cardinals.

The the game took place during the May game when Martinez was on the bat and the Cardinals catcher was behind him. The former hit the latch in the shoulder and was later diagnosed with a fracture to his right arm.

William thought the same.

“It happened last year at Dodger Stadium. The same guy hit me twice in the same game,” he said. “I’m sorry about my brother,” he said when asked about his brother’s injury.

Martinez’s time with the Brewers will be interesting if he signs.
