The Milwaukee Bucks are 9-9 on the season after starting the year 2-8. Their sluggish start, which included a disastrous six-game losing streak, discouraged many fans who expected the team to be at their best from day one. Unfortunately, it took the band about a month to find the right rhythm.
But the Bucks’ sluggish start was like an early Thanksgiving feast for members of the national media who hated the fact that two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo consistently extended his contracts to stay in the league’s smallest market.
Despite this change, some NBA writers are still trying to push the narrative that Milwaukee should or will trade Giannis, the greatest and most faithful player in franchise history.
Bleacher Report suggests that the Milwaukee Bucks should trade Giannis Antetokounmpo to the San Antonio Spurs
In an article in which he proposed four trades that would strengthen NBA title contenders, Zach Buckley z Bleacher Report he didn’t just write that the Bucks should trade Giannis for San Antonio Spursbut their recent winning ways have done little to improve their standing as one of the league’s biggest disappointments:

Milwaukee Bucks receive: Jeremy Sochan, Keldon Johnson, Malaki Branham, Zach Collins, 2025 first-round pick (top 10 protected by CHI), 2027 first-round pick (via ATL), 2030 first-round pick (via DAL), 2031 first-round pick (via MIN) and 2026 first-round pick swap (via ATL)
“While the Bucks have course-corrected somewhat after a disastrous start to the season, they still don’t seem close to contention. The biggest hopes they have for the team are related to the fact that Antetokounmpo is on its team, but this is not the best advantage of the two-time MVP himself.
“The Wembanyama-Antetokounmpo pairing can almost do anything, or in fact anything, if Wembanyama can be more consistent with his outside shots. Both are intimidating rim protectors who can comfortably (and effectively) defend against the basket. Offensively, both are 50-point threats, both are undefendable around the rim (and above), and each offers enough creativity to generate shots for themselves and their teammates.
This trade proposal, while fanatical because a Giannis-Wemby combination would be extremely entertaining, has no basis in reality.
How many times do the Bucks have to repeat that they are not selling the best player in franchise history? How many times does Giannis have to repeat that he never wants to leave?
With 18 games under their belt, Milwaukee is fifth in the standings and just one game behind the New York Knicks in fourth place in the Eastern Conference. What’s more, the Orlando Magic are only three games behind the third in the table.
With 64 games left and Khris Middleton on the brink of returning, the Bucks are not only still a contender in the mediocre Eastern Conference, but they are also one of the hottest teams in the league.
The fact is, as stated, that members of the national media can’t stand the fact that Milwaukee’s petite market is relevant, and unfortunately these types of trade proposals will continue throughout the rest of Giannis’ career, which Giannis will spend with the Bucks.
