For years, the secret to unlocking All-Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo’s full potential on the court was to surround him with shooters and give him enough space to operate in the paint. Almansa began his professional career in the United States, signing with Overtime Elite in 2021 after playing for several years in Spain. He played there for two seasons before ultimately signing with the G-League Ignite in 2023.
Within 16 gamesAlmansa averaged 8.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest. Although the 6-foot-8 forward needs to improve his outside shooting, the Spanish star shot 52 percent from the field.
Almansa recently declared for the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. While the upcoming rookie class is considered weaker than previous groups, there may be some gems waiting to be discovered, such as G-League forward Ignite.

With Purdue’s Zach Edey and Alabama’s Mark Sears, the Milwaukee Bucks could consider drafting Izan Almansa to strengthen their roster. Franco Luna explains more in his article for Behind the Buck Pass.
“Probably the most vital thing for the huge man right now: Almansa stretches the floor with his developing three-point shot. As we saw with both Portis and Lopez, this opens up up-to-date opportunities for Giannis and creates spacing nightmares for opposing defenses, especially those who like to lose in the pick-and-roll. His ability to knock down open shots perfectly complements Giannis’ drive-and-kick game.
Yet Almansa is not just a scorer; is the coordinator. With a high basketball IQ and impressive passing skills for his size, he can operate in the high post, finding open shooters and creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. This selfless style complements Giannis’ dominance in painting.” Luna wrote.
While the Bucks could benefit from another point guard in their rotation, the franchise could use one of two draft picks on Almans. This will add another reliable striker to a top-class defense and allow us to make progress in the attacking part of the pitch in the coming years.
Time will tell whether Milwaukee uses one of its two picks on Almans or not. Nevertheless, the G-League Ignite star has many advantages.
