The Milwaukee Bucks were expected to suffer more losses than make a huge leap

With a full offseason and a fit team ready to go, the Milwaukee Bucks have every reason to exceed expectations this year. However, NBA analytics predict otherwise for a team led by Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks are poised for a bounce-back season in 2024-25 after a disappointing end to last season. With Damian Lillard teaming up with Giannis Antetokounmpo, the team’s championship aspirations remain high, but questions remain about their ability to fully integrate the two superstars.

The Bucks Season inauguration will be against the Philadelphia 76ers, a potential title contender in the Eastern Conference, setting the tone for what promises to be a tough schedule. Key games include a pair of meetings with the defending champion Boston Celtics, whose talented roster and versatile lineup pose a tough challenge for the Bucks.

The Bucks are currently priced at +1300 for a championship, reflecting the uncertainty surrounding their potential success. While the core of Antetokounmpo, Lillard, and Khris Middleton is undoubtedly formidable, health concerns and coaching changes could hinder their progress.

Milwaukee Bucks are projected to underperform, not outperform, in the 2024-25 NBA season

Heading into the recent season, the Bucks will have mostly the same core centered around the duo of Antetkounmpo and Lillard. According to ESPN’s reportThe team is expected to suffer a greater decline in the 2024-2025 season than find a way to improve its fortunes in the coming months.

“1. Los Angeles Lakers: 53 points (43% of first-place votes)

2. LA Clippers: 25 points

T3 Atlanta Hawks: 19 points

T3. Chicago Bulls: 19 points

T5 Denver Nuggets: 12 points

T5. Milwaukee Bucks: 12 points”

As you can see from the ranking above, the Bucks earned enough votes to be placed on the Team Turmoil list. This means there’s a chance that Milwaukee could falter next season for a variety of reasons, such as an aging core or Doc Rivers disappointing yet again as head coach. The thing is, the same NBA ESPN report ranked the team fifth among teams that could soon turn their fortunes around.

Meanwhile, in another NBA analysis by Bleacher ReportThe team is projected to win around 52 games, which would likely secure a top-three finish in the Eastern Conference. However, the race for the top spot could be tight, as the Sixers and the revamped New York Knicks will also be vying for position.

The Bucks’ success will largely depend on their ability to find the right balance and chemistry between their stars, as well as the continued development of their supporting cast. With Rivers at the helm, the team will look to build on his proven regular-season success while hoping to avoid the late-season slump that plagued them last year.
