The Packers are elevating S Omar Brown from the practice squad for their Week 16 game against the Saints

The Green Bay Packers upgraded safety Omar Brown from the practice squad to the gameday squad in Week 16. The move was announced Monday, making Brown available to Matt LaFleur and the Packers for Monday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

The Packers do not have rookie Javon Bullard available due to an ankle injury, and reserve rookie Evan Williams was named to Saturday’s injury report with a quadriceps injury. Brown, a rookie from Nebraska, will provide needed depth and safety.

The Packers originally signed Brown to the practice squad on August 29. He has been in Green Bay since the start of the regular season, but will have a chance to make his NFL debut on Monday.

Brown, who made a pre-draft visit to Green Bay, first signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent. He played in 52 games in his college career and was selected to the All-Big Ten in 2023.

Each team may designate a maximum of two players from the practice squad each week. An individual player can only be promoted from the practice squad three times per season, so Brown has two promotions left. Brown will return to the practice squad on Tuesday.

The Packers have promoted at least one player in each of the first nine weeks, but have only promoted two players since the bye.
