On Saturday, the Green Bay Packers released receiver Malik Knowles from the practice squad and added linebacker Michael Barrett and offensive lineman Marquis Hayes to the practice squad.
Both Barrett and Hayes were recently selected in the seventh round of the draft.
Barrett was selected in the seventh round of the 2024 draft by the Carolina Panthers. During his first season in the NFL, he spent time on the practice squads of the Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns. He will replace Jamin Davis, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings last week, as the lone defenseman on the practice squad. At Michigan, Barrett played in 65 games and was named All-Big Ten twice. During the 2023 season, Barrett recorded three sacks and three forced fumbles as captain of the national champion team.
Hayes was selected in the seventh round of the 2022 draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He spent time on the Cardinals and Washington Commanders practice squad after missing his entire rookie season due to injury. At Oklahoma, Hayes played 37 straight games at left guard from 2019-2021.
The Packers originally signed Knowles, a first-year player out of Kansas State, on October 16. He did not appear in the Packers game as part of his promotion to the practice squad.
