Will Dilg may be unknown to most hunters, trappers and anglers who enjoy touring the Mississippi River, but in 2024 that should no longer be the case as this year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife Refuge. Dilg is the “father” of this 261-kilometer-long gem of a refuge.
The refuge stretches from Wabasha, Minnesota, to Rock Island, Illinois, and protects more than 240,000 acres of the Mississippi River floodplain.
