Wisconsin Badgers Football Keeps in Touch with 2026 ATH Justin Weatherall

This Wisconsin Football The staff has been loving Florida State lately, and cornerback Xavier Lucas put on a solid performance in his first game in red and white. After acquiring Lucas, the Wisconsin football staff has launched an all-out assault on Florida State for other valuable recruits who have flown under the radar. One such player has emerged in the 2026 recruiting class and could become a priority target before other big-time programs start taking notice.

2026 athlete Justin Weatherall hails from Pensacola, Florida and has the skills and experience to play wide receiver, safety, and cornerback. However, Weatherall was primarily recruited as a defensive back at the college level. The talented athlete recently completed a visit to the USF Bulls, which he thoroughly enjoyed as he got to know the staff and experienced the environment.

While Weatherall visited USF this weekend, the recruit is scheduled to visit with the Wisconsin football staff on Sept. 7. In addition to his visit to Madison, Weatherall has also been invited to visit UAB, Toledo, West Virginia and Coastal Carolina this season. The athlete would like to attend each visit, but currently doesn’t know if he will be able to do so.

When asked if a trip to Madison was in the near future, Weatherall replied, “I’m excited, I’ve heard nothing but great things about the school and the area.” Weatherall added, “You know who wouldn’t want to go to the best college town in America?”

Although the athlete is scheduled to visit the Wisconsin football team, Weatherall plans to visit at least Toledo and Arkansas State this season, as both universities have offered him scholarships.

How could Weatherall fit in with the Wisconsin football team?

Currently, the Wisconsin recruiting staff sees Weatherall as a defensive back rather than a wide receiver. However, it is still vital to recognize what Weatherall can bring to the team as a wide receiver on the offensive side. Regardless of where the athlete plays, he can bring tremendous value to the team.

When asked about the potential of playing wide receiver or defender in college, Weatherall responded confidently, stating, “I feel like I could play in a bigger program and on a bigger platform if I played defender in college.” However, Weatherall doesn’t want people to forget that he’s a receiver, saying, “I could put on a show as a wide receiver, too.”

As a defender, Weatherall is a long, confident athlete who can both make a large tackle and catch the ball in the air. Weatherall defends incredibly well in the air, making three interceptions last season and effectively closing down his side of the pitch. Asked about his defensive skills, Weatherall said, “I’m a playmaker and a ball hawk, I’m very versatile. I can play any skill position and make a play anywhere.”

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons for Weatherall’s success on the field is his football IQ, which allows the recruit to make huge plays. What truly separates college and pro prospects from other high school players is a deep understanding of the game. Weatherall has just that, and combined with his incredible athletic ability, he is a vigorous and well-rounded athlete.
