The Wisconsin Badgers remain undefeated this season after facing another undefeated team in the UCF Knights.
The Badgers They opened play in the Greenbrier Tip-Off with a win over some pretty powerful opposition this season. The UCF Knights are another program that has a chance to reach the NCAA Tournament this season, and at times they play like this team. Overall, Wisconsin played excellent defense and made shots on offense, while the Knights never really had any momentum offensively.
Both John Blackwell and Kamari McGee led the offense, spreading the basketball as well as scoring it for the Badgers. Blackwell finishes his career match against UTRGV and continues his streak with another impressive performance against a better opponent.
The centre-back became a radiant spot for the team early in the game after being placed in the playmaker position without much experience playing as a natural playmaker. However, that doesn’t stop Blackwell from playing the position well and giving Wisconsin some much-needed veteran play. McGee was a very similar player off the bench for the Badgers and continues to be the spark the team needs when the starters are tired.
Striker Nolan Winter is another player who should be mentioned as the main contributor to the victory. The gigantic man played like a gigantic man for the Wisconsin Badgers against a team that generally struggled to defend the penalty area. Winter was especially dominant on the boards, and that’s what the Wisconsin Badgers really needed this season.
The Wisconsin Badgers once again utilize their free throws and defense to beat UCF
Although the Wisconsin Badgers secured the victory, the main reason the team was able to do so was their continued success at the free throw line.
The Wisconsin Badgers went into halftime with a 46-31 lead after attacking the goal and scoring a second chance. Many of the results in the hall were also contributed to by excellent passes, which prepared the shooters to easily score points. Wisconsin looked like a fluid, well-functioning offense, and it was by far the best fluidity the Badgers had displayed so far in the season.
Another essential aspect of the game that allowed the Wisconsin Badgers to win against the UCF Knights was the defensive play. Wisconsin put the pressure on the Knights and forced them to play perhaps their worst half of basketball this season. The Badgers may not have a defense that results in a huge number of blocks, steals or turnovers, but rather one that forces unlikely shots.
