This fall, Wisconsin DNR fishing crews caught 4,580 king salmon at the Strawberry Creek facility near Sturgeon Bay, about 10% more than the long-term average.
More than 3.5 million Chinook eggs were collected from over 600 of the healthiest females and fertilized with sperm from males. After a series of steps to ensure disease resistance and improve hatching success, the eggs were trucked to the Wild Rose State Fish Hatchery.
