It hasn’t been a good last six days for Wisconsin football. Last Friday, fighting for their bowl life, the Wisconsin Badgers lost at home to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Over the next four days, Wisconsin lost numerous players to the transfer portal, mostly those playing on the defensive side of the ball. But on Wednesday, the Badgers lost their wing quarterback.
Trech Kekahuna, the third-most productive wide receiver in Wisconsin football, entered the transfer portal on Wednesday. Kekahuna is the eighth Badger to enter the transfer portal. Meanwhile, Wisconsin faithful are feeling Kekahuna’s loss, flooding Twitter with sadness over his passing.
Wisconsin football fans devastated by the loss of their top receiver
According to Pete Thamel of ESPN:
Wisconsin freshman wide receiver Priest of Trech enters NCAA transfer portal; says ESPN. @trechkekahuna This year he caught 25 passes for 339 yards and two touchdowns for the Badgers. He will have three years to qualify.
Wisconsin football lost its eighth player in four days on Wednesday, adding a wide receiver Priest of Trech We rush to the transfer portal. Kekahuna, a three-star recruit in the 2023 class, caught four passes for 64 yards last season. As a true sophomore this season, Kekahuna racked up 25 receptions, 339 yards and two touchdowns. In the season finale against Minnesota, Kekahuna caught six passes for 64 yards. However, after two seasons, he will leave Madison, Wisconsin.
Before joining Wisconsin football, Kekahuna had offers from Arizona, Boise State, Nevada, Hawaii, Oregon, Texas A&M, Utah and Washington State, among others. After entering the transfer portal, Kekahuna received his Crystal Ball projection for the Arizona Wildcats, according to 247Sports. Nevertheless, the Wisco faithful did not hold back in expressing their disbelief in the program following the loss of Kekahuna:
It hurts. What a player. One of the biggest mysteries for the Badgers Football Team in 2024 is that the Badgers failed to capitalize on their talents and skills in a year where the offense was so impoverished. I wish him all the best.

It’s demanding to blame him. His underutilization was ridiculous. One of my many complaints about Longo is that he didn’t put together packages (or enough packages) for his quarterbacks. He seemed so immersed in “his system” that he could adapt to his lineup.

Remember how good he looked against LSU in the bowl game when he had a capable QB

Disgusting

I’m sure they appreciated him, but they didn’t have a quarterback to throw him the ball. So it was wasted.

Trech Kekahuna enters the portal.
There is no loyalty to what the football program currently “is.”
The situation will continue to worsen as long as the masses continue to act as if nothing bad is happening. This program will go up in flames if they don’t make major changes pic.twitter.com/JKyWrwxugs

It just drives fans away from college football. Get burned enough times and you’ll lose interest in players. Why would I get attached to a good juvenile player if it would only mean him leaving? It’s demanding to justify the same level of interest in college athletics that I once had.

It’s a massive loss. I think he could develop into a top WR in the Big Ten.

I’ve never tweeted about any player more than Trech Kekahun, constantly asking questions last year about why the Badgers weren’t using him more. It’s the same frustration I felt with Isaac Guerendo… https://t.co/62DWh4dWv4
