I’ve been trapping for almost 60 years and have made every tackle mistake in the book – and some of them have never been seen.
Most of them had to do with procrastination (my wife calls it laziness). One of the themes that has come up over the years is the importance of getting all your gear ready for next season now, rather than waiting until the heat of summer or the trappers’ cluttered calendar in the fall (scouting, deer hunting, etc., etc.). e.t.c.). Do it now, while temperatures are soft and equipment damage (or loss) is still fresh in your mind.
