The baroque violinist Rachell Ellen Wong, winner of the main inaugural prize of the JS Bach competition, returns to MSO to lead one of the most iconic treasures in the entire baroque repertoire: The Four Seasons Vivaldi. Vivaldi provided live poems accompanying each of these seasonal concerts – in the spring “The Goatherd sleeps next to his trusted dog”, as the birds sing; Summer contains gold, pines and a harvest storm; The peasants dance and drink in autumn before a great hunt begins; And finally, winter changes from the icy winds to the satisfaction of rest.
