Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude, family and, of course, a table full of delicious food. And while nothing beats the holiday meal itself, Thanksgiving leftovers are a tradition all their own.
Turning those extra servings into modern dishes can keep the holiday flavor alive all weekend long. Leftover ham in particular is a versatile ingredient that adds a savory touch to dishes ranging from breakfast casseroles to cozy soups. One of our favorite ways to utilize up leftover ham is with toasty holiday ham crescents, which combine family-friendly flavors in an easy-to-prepare bite.
How to safely store holiday leftovers
Food safety is crucial when it comes to leftovers, so a quick refresh can make a substantial difference.
Thanksgiving leftovers should be stored within two hours of serving to stay fresh and protected. Be sure to store cooked ham in the refrigerator and wrap in airtight containers or bags, and try to utilize it within three to four days. Reheating leftovers to an internal temperature of 50°F ensures food safety and re-brings out the savory richness of the ham.
