The NBA Cup will be back in its second year for every team in the league in a few months. As it stands, the budding rivalry between the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers will be reignited when they meet in the tournament.
The competition between The Pacers and Bucks reached up-to-date heights in the 2024 NBA Playoffs. After a season filled with intense games and heated exchanges, the two teams faced each other in a highly anticipated first-round series.
The Pacers had an impressive record against the Bucks throughout the regular season, and their playoff series victory capped a dominant run. The teams’ five regular-season meetings, as well as their All-Star Weekend clashes and occasional media barbs, created a palpable rivalry.
Before the playoffs, Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton stated that he did not consider the matchup to be a true rivalry until the teams met in the postseason. The first-round series, despite injuries to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, was widely expected to be a clash of an inexperienced Pacers team against an experienced Bucks team with championship experience.
The hostility evident during the playoff series was a continuation of tensions that had been building for months. The Pacers’ Game 6 victory over the Bucks further solidified their position as a formidable opponent, setting the stage for even more intense rivalry in the coming seasons.

The 2024 Emirates NBA Cup is the second NBA tournament annual tournament during the season. It includes Group Play and Knockout Rounds, with the Semifinals and Championship taking place in Las Vegas. The tournament will count toward the regular season standings, with the exception of the Championship Match.
With the game still months away, fans will be eager to see Milwaukee take on the Pacers again. Hopefully, key players from both teams will be healthy enough to put on a memorable game for everyone.
