‘Why it matters’: Wisconsin Badgers fans explode after Luke Fickell’s comments

The Wisconsin Badgers are 5-5 this season after losing to the No. 1 Oregon Ducks by a final score of 16-13 on Saturday night. Wisconsin had a chance to upset Oregon, but indigent play from quarterback Braedyn Locke doomed them once again.

He also performed terribly against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Head coach Luke Fickell is in danger of missing a bowl game with the Badgers in his second season. On Sunday night, he decided to fire offensive coordinator Phil Longo rather than bench quarterback Braedyn Locke.

Wisconsin Badgers head coach Luke Fickell met with the media on Monday. He was asked who would take over calling duties for the remainder of the 2024 college football season. Fickell said Evan Flood from 247sports:

“Why does this matter? I don’t think it’s really essential. I think it helps you point the finger at someone.

That was a very bold statement from the Badgers head coach. He wants to keep secret until the end of the 2024 season who will be called to the competition. Luke Fickell has been under fire from Badgers fans lately.

On Sunday morning, head coach Luke Fickell said Wisconsin offensive coordinator Phil Longo had been fired.

There will be a lot of Wisconsin Badgers fans whose Luke Fickell will be fired at the end of the season. With Braedyn Locke not on the bench, they will have to find a point guard in the transfer portal if Mabrey Mettauer isn’t ready to take over next year. Wisconsin will also need to find a suitable replacement offensive coordinator for Phil Longo or they will be looking for a up-to-date head coach after the 2025 college football season.
