Will the Wisconsin Badgers FBS Bowl streak unfortunately end in the 2024 season?

The Wisconsin Badgers are coming off a huge loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes and now they have to fight to keep their winning streak alive.

Every team needs one in college football these days six wins in a given season to guarantee the team’s bowling. There have been special circumstances where teams with five wins have been offered a bowl game, but this is scarce. The Badgers currently have five wins on the season and need one more win to qualify for a bowl game.

The real kicker isn’t the final victory, but what would happen if the Badgers weren’t able to secure another win. The Wisconsin Badgers currently have a 22-year winning streak dating back to 2002 when Wisconsin defeated Colorado in the Alamo Bowl. Wisconsin currently has the third-longest winning streak in the FBS, behind Oklahoma (25) and Georgia (27).

But Wisconsin hasn’t played like a bowl team over the last two games, and now it could be in a slump at its worst. Not only do the Badgers need to secure a win to make the bowl, but they also need to retain something that has been passed on to other classes of players.

For Wisconsin State, securing a final victory this season could prove to be quite a challenging task given the remaining schedule.

The Wisconsin Badgers must play No. 1 seed Oregon, Nebraska and Minnesota to complete the 2024 regular season, and potentially the team’s entire season. Wisconsin has a much-needed bye week before facing the Ducks, but achieving victory would require significant preparation this week. After the team’s comeback performance against the Iowa Hawkeyes, overtaking Nebraska or Minnesota won’t be as straightforward as many initially thought.

Nebraska is a team that struggled with similar issues when quarterback Dylan Raiola began to suffer a freshman slump. The quarterback isn’t as effective as he was earlier in the season, and neither is the Cornhuskers’ running game. However, Nebraska is still a talented and capable team that could find a way to beat the Badgers.

Minnesota, on the other hand, is a team in a completely different situation because everything has started to fall into place. The Golden Gophers won four straight games and probably should have beaten the Michigan Wolverines as well. Quarterback Max Brosmer has returned to the form he showed last season at UNH and has made very few mistakes so far.

It will be challenging for the Wisconsin Badgers to win their last three games. Nebraska is probably the most vulnerable team right now, but it’s still a threat against the Badgers. Wisconsin will need to play solid football to keep its two-decade bowl streak alive.
