Winter in northern Wisconsin has been rated as severe

Winter’s impact on deer helps determine the County Advisory Deer Council’s recommendations for antlerless deer quotas for fall hunting.
This past winter, the Bayfield Peninsula suffered from successive ponderous snowfalls that hit the region, including a mid-April outbreak that dropped more than 20 inches of ponderous, moist snow in Bayfield County and northern Ashland County.
