Snowmobiling
Black Creek Lodge is located on a multi-use trail in Eau Claire County, surrounded by thousands of acres of public land. Their property includes five cottages ranging in size from the impressive Retreat Center (with six bedrooms for up to 22 people) to a fully furnished one-bedroom cabin.
Serenity Lake cottages in Jackson County are the perfect place to wake up, get outside and hit the trail. They have four properties on site, including one cottage that can accommodate up to 35 guests. If you don’t have a snowmobile, the property owners work with local businesses to facilitate you find deals.
Spring Brook Vacation Rentals in Wisconsin Dells has a trail leading directly to their property. They rent everything from hotel suites to condos, and guests can even park their sled right in front of the rental shop. Spring Brook also has a sports bar and grill that is a great stop for snowmobilers.
Cross-country skiing
Woodside Ranch in Mauston offers cross-country ski trails ranging from 2.5 to 7 miles. Visitors can choose from a variety of three-bedroom Woodside or Lake House log cabins. The ranch is perfect for a vast group of cross-country skiers. What’s more, you can eat on site.
In Brantwood, Palmquist Farm maintains up to 20 miles of trails on its 800-acre property. Trails wind through forested areas and farmland and range from beginner to intermediate. Palmquist offers six accommodation options, ranging from single bedrooms to entire cabins.
A cross-country ski trip in Wisconsin wouldn’t be complete without visiting the 100-mile American Birkebeiner Trail. Just eight miles from the start of the annual race, Lakewoods Resort offers everything from cozy rooms to luxurious condos. The resort is adjacent to the Rock Lake Trail system in the Chequamegon National Forest.
Snowshoes
High Point Village has four chalet-style cottages just steps from the trails at Timm’s Hill Park. On the hill, which reaches 600 meters, there are routes ranging from straight and flat to long and winding. After a day spent in nature, guests can balmy up at the Hill of Beans Restaurant and Cafe.
Delta Lodge at Iron River is located in the Chequamegon National Forest and has several cabins available during the winter months, complete with fireplaces and saunas. Trails are just minutes from the cottages. The property even offers snowshoe rentals.
