The Wisconsin Badgers will open their college football season Friday night at home against the Western Michigan Broncos. The game is scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM CT at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. In this college football contest, the game will be broadcast on FS1.
Western Michigan will be the underdog in this game against Wisconsin. Hopefully, this game will be an entertaining evening for the Badgers faithful. After finishing the season with a 7-6 record, head coach Luke Fickell is looking for more success in his second season with the program.
Tony Libert of Sports Illustrated predicts Chez Mellusi will have a career-high in rushing yards for the Wisconsin Badgers against the Western Michigan Broncos
Sports Illustrated’s Tony Libert has made three bold predictions for the Wisconsin Badgers on Friday night against the Western Michigan Broncos. One of the bold predictions for this weekend’s game is that he believes senior running back In Mellusia set a career record for rushing yards. Libert said:
“Western Michigan allowed 158.8 rushing yards per game last season, which was 82nd in college football last season. The Badgers will start Friday night with a new quarterback under center, but Phil Longo showed he still wants to establish the run game. Chez Mellusi is as good as he has been in his Wisconsin career and could be in line for a breakout game.”
Badgers have he allegedly “tried to limit” Mellusi’s training load in this pre-season, but I think they could… waiting for me to hold it up to the airy. His current career high is 157 yards, set last season against Buffalo in Week 1. There’s a good chance we’ll see him approach that on Friday night.
Chez Mellusi ran for just 307 yards on 51 attempts and four touchdowns last season with the Wisconsin Badgers, and averaged 6.0 yards per attempt. He’ll be splitting tackles with former Oklahoma Sooners running back Tawee Walker. That bold prediction for Mellusi is crazy.
Replacing Braelon Allen
The Wisconsin Badgers will have a tough time replacing defensive end Braelon Allen from last season. He didn’t rush for 1,000 yards, but he came close with 984. Allen was selected in the fourth round by the New York Jets in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Chez Mellusi will need to be productive in the backfield this season for the Badgers. Wisconsin’s offense is effective when the run game is running. If Mellusi actually gets a lot of yards against the Western Michigan Broncos on Friday night, that would be a good start for him.
