The Wisconsin Badgers finished 22-12 last season and 11-9 in the BIG10. At one point last season, Wisconsin was ranked as the sixth-best team in the country. The Badgers had a gritty patch heading into the conference tournament.
The Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Purdue Boilermakers in the BIG10 Tournament before losing to the Illinois Fighting Illini in the BIG10 Championship Game. Wisconsin was the fifth seed in the NCAA Tournament and lost to the 12th seed James Madison Dukes.
The Wisconsin Badgers will open BIG10 play against the Michigan Wolverines
Wisconsin will begin conference play on Dec. 3 at home against the Michigan Wolverines. It will be the first conference game of the 2024-2025 season, and that game will come before a huge showdown at state on Dec. 7 against the Marquette Golden Eagles.
Michigan was one of the worst teams in the conference a season ago. This is a must-win game early in the BIG10 because it’s a huge win for the Badgers. Michigan is projected to be the better team in the conference this season, but the Wisconsin Badgers will only face them once.
They are not fielding anyone twice this season
With the addition of four up-to-date teams to the BIG10 this year: the USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, Oregon Ducks, and UCLA Bruins, the Wisconsin Badgers won’t play anyone twice in the conference this season. It’s a shame they won’t play a team twice in the conference until the BIG10 tournament.
They host Oregon on February 22, and Washington on February 25. They host USC on the road on January 18, and UCLA on January 21. In other crucial conference games, they host the Indiana Hoosiers on February 4.
The Wisconsin Badgers will be on the road against the eventual BIG10 title winner this season on January 6 against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. They will also be at the Purdue Boilermakers on February 15. The Wisconsin Badgers will also host Ohio State Buckeyes January 14th.
Wisconsin will need to win every winnable game on its schedule to have any chance of making the NCAA Tournament this season. Additionally, Wisconsin Badgers fans will not be patient with coach Greg Gard if he struggles to win games this season.
