First of all, they need to find a replacement for the seven players who decided to enter their names on the football transfer portal. They are defensive lineman Curtis Neal, wide receiver Cameron Miller, quarterback Cole LaCrue, middle linebacker Leon Lowery, middle linebackers Amare Snowden and Jonas Duclona, and linebacker Justin Taylor.

Another significant job to be done is hiring a modern offensive coordinator after the team decided to part ways with Phil Longo two weeks ago.

Sam Fickell was the one who fired Longo who joined the team in 2023.

After further evaluation of the program, I have decided that we are not where we need to be and I believe this decision is in the best interest of the team. I appreciate Phil’s commitment to helping build our program over the past two seasons and wish him the best of luck in his career.

How is their search going? Fickell said yes while being thorough.

“It’s a continuous process. I would like to tell you that in three days we will do it. We must do our due diligence. We can’t just jump into this case. I wanted it done yesterday… it’s just not true,” he said, as quoted by CBS sports writer Evan Flood.

In addition to the OC, they are also looking for a new quarterback coach.
