The Wisconsin Badgers are 2-2 in the college football season. They are on a two-game losing streak and will face the Purdue Boilermakers 1-3 next weekend. One of Purdue’s moves on Sunday before the week’s matchup was to fire offensive coordinator Graham Harrell.
Purdue hasn’t scored more than 30 points in a game since Week 1 against Indiana State. The Boilermakers are on a three-game losing streak. Both teams try not to leave the basement during the BIG10 conference.
Purdue Boilermakers fans react to Graham Harrell’s firing ahead of the Wisconsin Badgers game
Hudson Card has been the starting point guard for the Boilermakers this season. He completed 65.9% of his passes for seven touchdowns and four interceptions. Card may have started the season at Purdue, but the fact that Harrell became the Boilermakers’ scapegoat is a large surprise this early in the college football season.
Here’s what some fans wrote on Twitter about the Boilermakers’ offensive coordinator being fired:
Taking the blame for Hudson Card super senior Graham Harrell is a nasty job

They could have hired me at this point and maybe they would have done better XD

When you recruit players with the mindset that they are the best or better than other players simply because they are towering, long, essential or come from the portal, that is a result they will continue to produce. He is responsible, but so are the coaches on this staff who have this attitude!

There seems to be a lot of blame attached to the Boilermakers’ offensive struggles. The Wisconsin Badgers defense will need to play well defensively this weekend to end their two-game losing streak.
Head coach issues statement
When Purdue made the change, the head coach Ryan Walters said:
“Such decisions are never easy. After evaluating our start to the season, I felt it would be best for our team to make the change now. We are grateful for Graham’s contributions to our program and wish him all the best for the future.”
Graham Harrell was currently in his second season on the show. He was currently on a three-year contract and was one of the highest paid assistants in the team. No announcement has yet been made on who will be the Boilermakers’ modern offensive coordinator for this weekend’s game against the Wisconsin Badgers.
