Wisconsin Badgers: Start matchup with the third unranked Penn State Nittany Lions

On Saturday afternoon, the Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Northwestern Wildcats at home 23-3. With the victory, the Badgers improved their overall season record to 5-2 and are now 3-1 in BIG10 conference play this season.

Wisconsin defensive lineman Elijah Hills, 94, is hugged by defensive line coach EJ Whitlow after recovering from a foul from Northwestern during the second quarter of the game Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium in Evanston, Illinois.

Some thought there was a chance the Badgers would be ranked ahead of this weekend’s home game against the No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions. Penn State was shut out last weekend and dropped two in the AP poll to three.

From the way Wisconsin looked over the last three weeks, it looked like they could be a top-25 team entering the game against Penn State. Instead, the Badgers are unranked heading into this weekend’s game against the Nittany Lions.

If they can pull off an upset this weekend, there’s a good chance Wisconsin will end up in the top 25. They haven’t received a single vote among the top 25 players entering the next week of the college football season. The game will take place on Saturday evening, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

Instead of the Wisconsin Badgers ranking in the top 25 this week Vanderbilt Commodores are ranked 25th in the nation heading into this week’s matchup with the No. 5 Texas Longhorns. Vanderbilt is 5-2 this season and there is a chance they will remain in or fall out of the top 20.

The Commodores are one of the biggest stories in college football this season. As for the Wisconsin Badgers, they will need to earn the respect of others this week if they are to finish in the top 25 by the end of the 2024 college football season.
