The Wisconsin Badgers are on a three-game winning streak heading into a key BIG10 conference matchup next weekend at home against the third-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions. One of the reasons the Badgers have looked better over the last three weeks is their running game Walker was present.
In Wisconsin’s 23-3 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday, Walker rushed for 126 yards on 23 carries. He didn’t have a rushing touchdown, but Walker averaged 5.5 yards per carry. He also caught two passes for seven yards and zero touchdowns, and averaged 3.5 yards per reception.
Wisconsin Badgers head coach Luke Fickell praises running back Tawee Walker ahead of Penn State Nittany Lions matchup
Badgers head coach Luke Fickell praised defenseman Tawee Walker during a media briefing. Fickell said Dillon Graff from Athlon Sports about running away:
“We’re starting to realize that Tawee is a guy who can do much better with more than 18-20 carries… It’s impressive to watch him continue to develop and show us how he’s doing. The more carriers there are, the better he gets.
He carried the ball 19, 24 and 23 times in his last three games for the Badgers. Let’s hope this trend continues in Wisconsin’s offense.
Interesting statistics
Walker appeared in six games for the Wisconsin Badgers this season and missed one game. In the four games they won with him in the lineup, he ran for at least 60 or more yards in those contests. In the two losses, Walker threw for less than 59 yards in those contests.
He has rushed for over 100 yards in the last two games. It will be captivating to see if Walker can rush for over 100 yards this weekend against the elite Penn State Nittany Lions defense. If he can get that amount this weekend, the Badgers will have a chance to upset the Nittany Lions in prime time at home.
