While looking through the 2026 recruiting class for talent that truly fits the team, the Wisconsin football staff stumbled upon a unique recruit. Three-star offensive lineman Michael GildeaThe New Jersey native has emerged as a top recruiting target in the 2026 class for Wisconsin.
Gildea currently has only a few offers, but he recently attracted the attention of major programs after his final season. Gildea claims he has been in contact with Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Pittsburgh, Penn StateAND Michigan among others. The Wisconsin football staff has also shown powerful interest but has not yet offered a scholarship to the offensive quarterback.

The offensive lineman is focused on feeling at home and enjoying where he will work and study in the future. One such aspect of recruiting that boded well for the Wisconsin football staff was the location and campus, as Gildea enjoyed the surroundings.
When asked about his thoughts on Wisconsin, Gildea replied, “I love Wisconsin, it’s an amazing school with a great atmosphere and one of the best football programs in the country.”

For the Wisconsin football staff, Gildea is an offensive lineman who can do almost anything they need on the line. Gildea is a speedy offensive lineman who is incredibly airy on his feet, something Wisconsin considers extremely significant on their line.
Gildea believes that his ability to reach the “second level” and stay there is what sets him apart. The offensive-minded playmaker feels like when he’s in the “zone” he can read tacklers much quicker and easily change position to block them at the right time. Gildea believes that he’s not just a lineman, but rather an athlete who plays down the line, which is evident in his athleticism for a substantial man.
