This Wisconsin Football staff kept a close eye on the 2026 three-star special recruit, who was on campus for Western Michigan’s victory. The Badgers beat the Broncos 28-14 and gave safety Camaul King a close look at the energy Camp Randall can generate. Wisconsin was able to both win and impress its top recruit in one night.

King, a Florida native, is a talented and versatile safety who admits he loves the energy of game day. When asked where he ranks in his recruitment, King said, “That’s right up there at the top of the list, the intensity of the fans, it makes you feel more loved and wanted by the entire environment, not just your team.” The safety also loved his recent experience at Camp Randall and thought the “enthusiasm” of the fans was great.

The safety is really focused on his development during his recruiting and wants to be in a program that will make him a great player. King stated, “I’m really looking for a place that will help me grow the most as a player and as a person, to teach me to that next level.” King is also incredibly family-oriented and wants a program that will accept him like family.

King received a ton of love and attention from some huge schools early on in his recruiting, but there were definitely programs that stood out. The safety said Duke, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Illinois, Oklahoma, Stanford, Michigan and Pittsburgh were the most involved. King plans to visit each school in the future when time allows.

What could King offer the Wisconsin Badgers football team on defense?

The active safety King has a lot to offer the Wisconsin Badgers defense, especially on the defensive end. King is a football hawk and his ability to read and react to the quarterback is excellent, which resulted in multiple interceptions last season. In addition to his ability to move the ball on defense, King also brings a level of physicality that is tough to play against as a receiver.

Opposing teams also need to be aware of King when they return interceptions or fumbles because of his incredible speed. The receiver has experience as a wide receiver and had multiple 20+ yard interception returns last season. King’s speed also allows him to get to the ball faster and make plays in the air before the receiver touches the ball.

King is also a talented downhill player who made a number of huge tackles on running backs last season. At 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, King isn’t the biggest safety, but he’s certainly physically forceful as he packs a powerful punch into his tackles. The athlete’s biggest moment last season involved making huge tackles on much bigger players, showing off his fearlessness when attacking.

On the defensive side of the ball for Wisconsin football, King could be a versatile safety, which could certainly benefit the defense in the future. When asked what sets him apart from other safeties, King stated, “I think most coaches see how versatile I am. I can run from sideline to sideline, I can cover tight ends, I can play defense, and I can play zone with my speed.” The safety certainly provides a ton of versatility on the defensive side of the ball, which could benefit Wisconsin in the future.
