Wisconsin wolf hunting season rules parallel up-to-date plan

The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board (NRB) meeting on Aug. 9 was packed with information on issues ranging from DNR budgets to wolves.
Scott Karel, wildlife policy specialist for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), provided a brief summary of the proposed timber wolf logging regulations as an offshoot of the recently released state wolf management plan. The final regulations will be presented to the NRB in October, when the board is also expected to act on the updated state wolf management plan.
Paul Neumann, DNR Management and Budget Chief, informed the board that the DNR’s up-to-date budget for 2023-2025 is a total of $1.22 billion for the biennium, a 7.5% boost over the previous biennium.
